BOOKMAN'S MOVIE SCREENSHOT GAME—DAY 1 (14 June 2021)

Hello movie fans!  Long time no see!  Welcome back to another 2-week engagement of Bookman's Movie Screenshot Game!  For those of you who have not played before, the game is simple.  For two weeks, Monday through Thursday, I provide 10 screenshots each day and you provide the correct movie titles (or as many as you can conjure). Each day's lineup is roughly in descending order of difficulty, and each day the games get tougher.  Monday is easy, Thursday is irritating.  Post your answers here in the comments section or in the appropriate thread at FPN.  The correct movie titles will post at the top of the next day's game.  Although there are no Friday games, the correct titles  for Thursday games will be posted separately on Fridays.  All posts occur at 9:00 AM U.S. Pacific Time (UTC–8).

On This Day in Movie History …

… burly actor Burl Ives was born Burl Icle Ivanhoe Ives in Hunt City Illinois in 1909.  Known more for his singing than his acting, he nonetheless won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor of 1958 (The Big Country).  He burnished his acting résumé with an only-slightly-over-the-top performance as "Big Daddy" in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1959), starring Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman.  His final acting work came in the racy Two Moon Junction (1988).

He began his show business career as an itinerant folk singer, playing his guitar, singing folk songs, and working odd jobs along the way.  He eventually made his way to radio, film, and the recording studio where he sang the hits "Blue Tail Fly," "Lavender Blue," which won an Oscar for Best Song of 1949 (So Dear to My Heart), "Holly Jolly Christmas," and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."

In his later years he lived with his wife on the Puget Sound in Anacortes, Washington, where he died in 1995.

To prevent your seeing the first screenshot prematurely, I like to create a buffer zone with two images like the ones below.

Joan Crawford and Clark Gable in Dancing Lady (1933)

Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn in Woman of the Year (1942)

All right, are you ready to play?  Then let's play!  Good luck and have fun.
